One Liner: As a part of the government’s nationwide efforts to reduce financial fraud, The Department of Telecommunications has urged Telecom operators to re-authenticate mobile numbers to track cyber thieves.
As per a report published by the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP), victims of financial fraud suffered losses amounting to 10,000 crore rupees in 2023. To reduce the incidence of such crimes, the government has urged telecom service providers to verify more than 20 Lakh mobile connections with 28,000 mobile handsets.
